The Inside Edge · member commentary, performance grid, watch list, weekly essay
Four weeks inside Apex Momentum that a monthly chart cannot show.
In the backtested record, Apex Momentum fell 30.3% between June 30 and July 29 of this year. The S&P 500 total return index fell 2.4% over the same four weeks.
By August 17, the day the quarter closed and the book rebalanced, the same backtested record showed Apex up 12.7% for the quarter that began May 18, against 4.9% for the index.
Both figures describe the same ten stocks. The month end points on the growth chart show a strong June and a weak July, and neither shows how deep the decline went or how fast it came back.
Every Apex figure in this issue is backtested and before fees and taxes. A member mirroring the model would have seen different numbers because of timing, fees and taxes.
