Using our research
We publish original research because we want it read, shared, and cited. If you are writing an article, building a chart, or putting together a segment, you are welcome to use our work. There is one condition, and it is simple: attribute it and link back to the page you took it from.
What you are free to do
- Quote any statistic or finding from our research (for example, a monthly average return, a drawdown figure, or a historical odds number).
- Reproduce our charts and tables, including in print, online, social posts, newsletters, and broadcast.
- Reference our named indicators by name, such as the Market Normality Indicator and the Drawdown Opportunity gauge.
- Use our work in commercial publications. Attribution is the only requirement.
The one condition: attribution and a link
Credit Advising Alpha and link back to the specific page you used, not just the homepage. A worked example:
Source: Advising Alpha, “How the Market Behaves,” advisingalpha.com/research/market-returnsIn a print or broadcast context where a live link is not possible, a visible “Source: Advising Alpha” credit on the chart or in the copy is enough. Our charts already carry a small watermark for exactly this reason, so please leave it in place when you reproduce them.
License
Our charts, tables, and the underlying data points are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. That means you can share and adapt them, including commercially, as long as you give credit and link back.
The full text of our articles, our methodology write-ups, and our editorial commentary remain under copyright. You are welcome to quote from them with attribution under normal fair-use practice, but please do not republish a full article in its entirety.
What is not allowed
- Presenting our research in a way that implies Advising Alpha endorses you, your product, or a specific investment decision.
- Altering a chart or a figure so that it misrepresents what the data shows.
- Framing our research as personalized investment advice. We are a publisher, not a registered investment adviser, and our work is observational and educational.
- Republishing a full article in its entirety without permission.
